Tom Zehnder is an award-winning composer and songwriter. For over 20 years, he has created original music primarily in the video game industry (scoring over 60 titles) but more recently has been branching out to all media not only in music but also sound design and post-production audio.
Zehnder’s experience includes writing and producing rock/dance/pop songs as well as scoring classic orchestral music for video games, TV ads and film. His most recent projects included scoring two national :30 second TV ads for the Toyotathon holiday campaign (“Finally” & “Dream”) and scoring plus sound design/rerecord mixing the new trailer for RollerCoaster Tycoon World. Other highlights include “Van Helsing” (the game) (lead composer/music supervisor) which garnered nominations for “Music of the Year” and “Best Orchestral Recording;” collaborating with composer David Ortega to compose and whistle on the main theme for Disney’s #1 tablet game “Where’s My Mickey”; writing and producing two original songs and producing 7 “covers” for Ubisoft’s “Just Dance Kids 2014” dance game; Mattel’s “Barbie Princess and the Pauper” (composer/songwriter/singer) which won “Best Edutainment/Children Audio” at the Game Audio Network Guild awards; and scoring indy feature film “The Last Tour” (2016) starring Ryun Yu.
In addition to his music creation, direction, production skills, Zehnder has also honed the craft of client taste deciphering. Arriving at the “solution” to a musical need can prove elusive. Zehnder has found great success via an active collaborative process between the client and himself. Zehnder offers his artistic instincts after listening and absorbing the client vision and then welcomes edits and constructive critique.
Rounding out his musical skill set, Tom Zehnder regularly performs playing guitar, djembe and singing in two bands: Zehnder and more recently Double Batch Daddy. He shares lead vocal duties trading off with twin brother and co-leader, Tim Gibbs Zehnder and together they explore genres ranging through rock, folk, swing, blues, world, and jazz.
Tom Zehnder holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in music composition summa cum laude from UCLA.
